How to Create an Alias on a Macintosh

On a Macintosh Operating System, both 9 and X, an alias is a shortcut or pointer file that allows you to quickly open or access the files, folders and applications you use the most. Here are some methods to create aliases on your own Macintosh computer, as well as some additional helpful tips for other uses regarding aliases in Macintosh Operating System X.
Steps:
  1. Select the item you want to make an alias for. Press "Command" and the letter "l" at the same time. You will see the new alias appear next to the original file.
  2. Select the item you want to make an alias for, then go to the File menu and click "Make Alias." You will see the new alias appear next to the original file.
  3. Select the item you want to make an alias for and hold down the mouse button. While pressing the "Command" and "Option" keys at the same time, drag the item where you want the alias to appear. This will create your alias at the new desired location.
  4. While holding down the "Control" key, click the item you want to make an alias for. From the contextual menu, select "Make Alias," and your new alias will appear next to the original file.
Tips:

  • The alias you create will have the same name as the item it originated from, with distinguishing features of the world "alias" at the end written in italics and an arrow in the bottom left corner.
  • If you decide you no longer need an alias, you can put it in the trash because your original item will remain safely on your hard drive.
  • Make an alias of your entire hard drive and place it in the Dock so you can navigate it through the menus. Once your alias is created, you can access your entire hard drive with a single click.
  • You can always move your alias to a different location, rename it or change its icon.
  • Create a favorites folder and fill it with several aliases of your most used files or applications to save time from searching for them in your Applications folder. Add this new folder to the Sidebar or Dock.
  • Create aliases of common files such as Safari, Text Edit or Preview in your Finder toolbar so you can easily drag files to the top of the window and open them in Preview for a quick look.(Source: www.wikihow.com)

  1. The benefit of having beautifully manicured nails at
all times is a helpful incentive to stop the Nail biting habit.
So, if your nails are unusually short and messy, you should locate the nearest hypnotherapist because you are probably
biting your nails and you don. Quite a few nail biters will also continue biting and
chewing their fingernails despite extreme damage and bleeding from the nail bed.
